: Bench Grinder Stand

After reading other reviews on this stand I kind of new what I was getting into. I needed a stand for a bench top buffer that I primarily use with 8" or smaller buffing wheels and I didn't want to pay more for the stand than I did for the actual buffer. So I went for it. I figured if it didn't work out for my intended purpose I'd just convert it into a shop stool. Anyway, assembly is pretty easy and right forward. Bolts, nuts, and lock washers. Took me about 45 minutes to assemble and attach the buffer. So far, so good. The buffer doesn't vibrate adequate to move the stand colse to and the four legs are just wide adequate at the floor that it doesn't want to wiggle waggle and tip over. However, I have carefully attaching the legs to a plywood floor base just for piece of mind. I'll make the platform large adequate so that I will be able to stand on it while using the buffer. This should stabilize the buffer adequate for more heavier buffing work. So I am fairly happy with the buy in general because I didn't have to spend $60+ on a grinder stand that cost more than the buffer. I personally would Not buy this stand for a bench grinder though. It is to light for even a 6" Grinder. Also, it is not noticeable in the stock pictures, but the 4 legs are de facto 8 pieces that wish you to bolt together at the point where the center tray is attached. This is de facto a weak point if you're reasoning anything about heavy duty use. Just because I think in Odd ways, I'm considering the buy of other one of these to convert into that shop stool I mentioned earlier. Top it with a 12" square piece of plywood, cheep vinyl surface over some padding and "woolla" A shop stool with a handy dandy coffee tray right underneath your button. Have you seen the prices on them shop stools lately? And If (and only If) it doesn't work out for that intended purpose I could convert it into a championship hybrid mahjong table as a tribute to the fine Chinese craftsmanship of course.
